Establish group to plan solid waste management, reduce solid waste
Summary:
Establishes a solid waste working group on solid waste management planning. This bill also requires the Department of Environmental Services to make certain rules for facilities that compost organics. The Senate amended the bill to also establish a goal to reduce the quantity of solid waste disposed in landfills and incinerators by 25% by the year 2030, and by 45% by the year 2050.
