HB 471 (2015) relative to the powers of the state board of education and the duties of school boards.

Description: Removes the requirement that school boards comply with the rules and regulations of the state Board of Education, and gives school board greater control over curriculum and assessments.  The bill was amended to only make it clear that local school boards have control over curriculum and standards, so long as those standards meet or exceed the minimum standards set at the state level.
