More insurance coverage for mental health
Summary:
Requires insurers to file an annual report with the Insurance Commissioner demonstrating compliance with the requirement that coverage for biologically based mental illnesses be under the same terms and conditions as physical illnesses. The House amended the bill to instead add stricter requirements for mental health coverage to match primary care coverage. This bill also limits the ability of insurers to deny coverage for medication assisted treatment for substance use disorder. The Senate added this bill to HB 1639.
