Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"While we need to work on how things are funded, I don't think that a broad-based income tax is necessarily the correct solution. I believe that we need to examine all possible solutions."

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?

"Undecided"

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"Lower business taxes should apply to small, locally-owned 'mom & pop shop' businesses as part of encouraging small business growth and development. Large corporations like UPS, Walmart and Amazon should pay their fair share of federal, state and local taxes."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase the tax on cigarettes?

"The state already taxes $1.78 per pack. I think more good would be done if marijuana was legalized, taxed and regulated like our neighboring states."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire create a road usage fee?

"Yes, and the fee should be based on both the weight of the vehicle and the overall fuel efficiency of the vehicle. As revenues have fallen from the gas tax, an RUF would help cities and towns like Weare that are struggling with roads and bridges in desperate need of repair."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"$7.25 is not nearly enough to live on, full stop. Minimum wage jobs are no longer just "starter jobs" for teenagers. Sometimes, minimum wage jobs are all that are available. Between NH's high cost of housing and high utility costs, the state needs to create and maintain a realistic and livable minimum wage."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire add tax incentives for affordable housing development?

"Lack of affordable housing is a crisis that's facing the nation. Especially in the wake of a global pandemic, when mortgage and eviction protections are expiring, New Hampshire needs to ensure that there is affordable housing available for its residents."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire provide student loan debt repayment programs for workers in industries with labor shortages?

"Student loan debt overall should be forgiven. College degrees should not cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and people should not be forced to carry a crushing debt burden for the rest of their lives for pursuing higher education."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase the base amount of per-pupil funding it provides to local school districts?

"Public schools need to be strengthened. The state needs to follow the court order from the Claremont decision and provide funds to ensure every kid in New Hampshire receives an "adequate education" and towns are not forced to raise property taxes and price people out of their homes. While we're at it, the state needs to look at the formula used to calculate "adequate education" funding, because those numbers are off."
