Antrim wind project takes step forward

The state Site Evaluation Committee (SEC) has decided to reconsider a proposal for a small wind power plant in Antrim, New Hampshire.

The SEC rejected the proposal in 2013 because of the negative aesthetic impact on the region, particularly the Willard Pond Sanctuary.

This time Aeolian Renewables - the company behind the wind farm - revised the proposal to remove one tower and shorten another.

The Antrim town government has supported the project since the first proposal in 2011

Wind farm opponents maintain that Aeolian Renewables did not revise the proposal enough to address the negative visual impact.  Opponents also argue wind farms are not cost effective, disrupt the local environment, and threaten the health of nearby residents.
