Senator Kelly Ayotte is in the throes of fundraising for her campaign to seek re-election to the Senate in 2016.

Friends of Kelly Ayotte said it raised more than $1.2 million in the first fundraising quarter of 2015, and more than $3 million is already in the bank.

“I am humbled by the outpouring of support, especially from citizens across New Hampshire,” Ayotte said in a statement. “It’s an honor to be their voice in the Senate, and I look forward to continuing to fight on their behalf to restore the New Hampshire values of hard work, liberty, and common sense to our nation’s capital.”

Two new staffers have also been added to Ayotte’s campaign: Michalle Makarov as the campaign’s finance director and Thomas Reiker as digital director. Already serving as campaign manager is Ben Sparks, and Tom DeRosa is her director of grassroots and campaign operations.

While Gov. Hassan has not made any formal announcements, it is possible she will run against Ayotte in a bid for the Senate. A spokesperson said Hassan will decide whether she seeks re-election as Governor or runs for the Senate as soon as this summer.
