According to a new WBUR MassINC poll, the race for New Hampshire governor is a dead heat.

41% of poll respondents said they would vote for Colin Van Ostern, and 41% said they would vote for Chris Sununu.

15% said they were still undecided.  When the undecided voters were pressed to make a decision, the scales tipped slightly in Van Ostern’s favor.  47% said they were likely to vote for Van Ostern, and 44% said they were likely to vote for Sununu.  That 3% difference is still within the poll’s margin of error, however.

Both candidates face challenges winning over undecided voters.  According to the poll, 31% said they had never even heard of Colin Van Ostern.  Only 5% of voters hadn’t heard of Chris Sununu.  However, 41% of voters said they had an unfavorable opinion of Sununu.  Only 15% said they had an unfavorable opinion of Van Ostern.

The survey included 501 likely voters, 28% Democrat, 31% Republican, and 40% undeclared.
