As the year draws to a close, here’s a look back at the most popular issues among New Hampshire voters on our website in 2017.

1. Gun Laws

This issue was most popular among New Hampshire website visitors this year. After a shooting in Las Vegas, lawmakers in New Hampshire and nationally called for a ban on “bumpstocks.”

2. Minimum Wage Increase

The minimum wage is a consistently popular topic of debate. Rep. Jackie Cilley is sponsoring a 2018 bill to raise the minimum wage for tipped employees in New Hampshire.

3. Marijuana Decriminalization

New Hampshire’s decriminalization law went into effect this year, and possession of small amounts of marijuana is now just a violation, like a speeding ticket. Is full legalization next?

4. Right-to-Work Law

At the very beginning of last year, New Hampshire lawmakers tried to push right-to-work through the Legislature, but it failed in the House.

5. Stand Your Ground/Castle Doctrine

Should you be able to use deadly force anywhere in New Hampshire without first attempting to retreat? When we asked our Facebook community about the issue this summer, most said “yes.”

Should NH repeal "stand tour ground" and return to the castle doctrine?
