Rep. Katherine Rogers is sponsoring a 2016 bill that would provide a $100,000 death benefit for school employees killed while working.

Supporters of the bill argue that school shootings have turned teachers into first responders, and teachers' families should therefore receive death benefits similar to those for police.

On the other hand, some lawmakers are concerned that the bill might cover accidents and natural disasters, not just violent deaths.

No New Hampshire teachers have died in school shootings, although a student pointed a gun at a teacher in 1985
