According to a new report from WalletHub, New Hampshire ranks 49th among states for the percentage of youth at risk of negative outcomes such as poverty, violence, and health problems. The report defined “youth” as residents age eighteen through twenty-four.

The report examined ten factors, such as homelessness and obesity.

New Hampshire scored particularly well for the percentage of youth attending school or working.

New Hampshire scored very poorly in one area: the percentage of youth using drugs. New Hampshire ranked 3rd in the nation on that measure.

Most of the rest of New England also had a very low ranking for at-risk youth. Massachusetts scored 44th, Vermont came in 43rd, and Maine ranked 31st. Mississippi scored 1st in the nation for most at-risk youth, while North Dakota came in last.
