Visiting NH this week, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump spoke on several subjects, including trade deals in which he claimed Mexico received unfair advantages over the U.S.

The discussion touched on the efficacy of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was signed into law in 1994 and eliminated tariffs and eased other restrictions on trade.

Supporters of NAFTA say it created an unprecedented surge in U.S. exports, which has in turn created hundreds of thousands of American jobs.

Critics argue, though, that NAFTA has led to growing trade deficits that have cost the U.S. thousands of jobs, lowered wages and harmed the economy.
