How civic-minded are Granite State residents? The Volunteering and Civic Life in America report by the Corporation for National and Community Services suggests some answers, providing fascinating data on the percentage of residents participating in a range of civic and voluntary activities. New Hampshire was ranked 23rd in the nation for volunteering, with 27.8% of residents devoting their time to helping a charitable or nonprofit organization. The report also found that 57.5% of residents had donated at least $25 to charity in the last year. In total, over $900.2 million worth of service was contributed by New Hampshire citizens in 2014.

The report also looked at other measures of civic health, finding that 93.1% of New Hampshire residents report eating dinner with family members on a frequent basis, while 86.7% often talk with their neighbors. Fewer Granite Staters take the time to discuss politics with family or friends, at a rate of 33.1%, and only 14.1% reported having contacted or visited a public official in the last year.

Data from the study was gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Explore the full findings here.
