According to two recent polls, as many as 25% of voters don't recognize the name of the Democratic nominee for Governor, Colin Van Ostern.

A poll conducted by WBUR from October 29 through November 1 found that 25% of likely voters had never heard of Van Ostern.

Another poll, conducted by the University of Massachusetts in Lowell from October 28 through November 2, found that 11% of registered voters had never heard of Van Ostern.

In contrast, only 3% of voters had never heard of Republican Chris Sununu, accord to the WBUR poll. 1% had never heard of Sununu according to the University of Massachusetts poll.

Voters may be more likely to recognize Sununu's name because his father, John H. Sununu, once served as Governor, and his brother, John E. Sununu, served as a U.S. Senator.

Neither poll asked if voters recognized the Libertarian candidate for governor, Max Abramson.
