New poll: Sununu popular, Trump not

A new poll shows that Gov. Chris Sununu is very popular in New Hampshire, while Pres. Donald Trump is not.

The poll comes from the Saint Anselm College Survey Center by the New Hampshire Institute of Politics (NHIOP). The survey included 630 randomly-selected registered voters.

62% said they had a favorable opinion of Sununu. 58% said they had an unfavorable opinion of Trump.

Over the weekend Rep. Carol Shea-Porter announced she would not run for reelection to New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District.

Her decision leaves the race wide open for both parties in 2018.  Here are some of the potential candidates.

So far five candidates have announced their intention to run in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District race in 2016.

Frank Guinta is the incumbent Republican representative. Guinta is known as a strict financial conservative and a staunch opponent of the Affordable Care Act and President Obama's Clean Power Plan. However, Guinta has been subject to criticism from fellow Republicans for campaign finance violations.

Innis challenged U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta for the Republican nomination in 2014 and lost by less than 5,000 votes.
