On Thursday, January 3 Gov. Chris Sununu delivered his second inauguration address.

Sununu opened with an emphasis on bipartisan cooperation. Gov. Sununu will have to work across the aisle to see his policy proposals succeed in a Democrat-controlled House and Senate.

"I have often said that we don't let the dysfunction of Washington define our success here — and it's true — politics does not dictate policy. We treat each other with respect and civility, not with the circus-like theatrics and zero-sum games that have taken over Washington."

Friday, April 14 marked Chris Sununu's 100th day as Governor of New Hampshire. Here's a round-up of his major actions so far.

Repealing the license requirement for concealed carry

Gov. Sununu signed eight bills in his first 100 days, but most of those bills were just housekeeping. SB 12, signed into law February 22, allows New Hampshire residents to carry a concealed firearm without a license. So-called "constitutional carry" had passed the House and Senate in previous years, but was vetoed by then-Governor Maggie Hassan.

Van Ostern running for Governor

Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern announced Tuesday, October 8 that he is running for New Hampshire Governor in 2016.

Van Ostern is the first Democrat to formally join the race.

In the announcement on his website, Van Ostern says his priorities include business growth, lower college debt, and a southern New Hampshire commuter rail.

On Labor Day Republican Executive Councilor Chris Sununu announced he will run for Governor in 2016.

His announcement outlined some priorities: no new taxes or fees, increased funding for charter schools, and initiatives to encourage business growth.

Councilor Sununu received significant media coverage this summer after voting to defund Planned Parenthood in New Hampshire. Sununu identifies as pro-choice, but said he could not support Planned Parenthood after controversial videos appeared to show Planned Parenthood employees discussing the sale of fetal tissue.

In the first step towards a possible run for Governor, Executive Councilor Chris Sununu (R) has stepped down as general manager of Waterville Valley Resort.

"This definitely gives me more day-to-day flexibility to do a lot more things politically," Sununu told WMUR, "whether it’s visiting with the various presidential candidates, working with other potential local candidates or even exploring my own opportunities."
