Right now the university system has a rule that bans firearms on campus. Students that own a firearm must store the gun with campus police.

Should NH ban the sale of realistic-looking toy guns?

Oct 12, 2016

A New Jersey lawmaker, Sheila Oliver, has proposed a bill that would prohibit the sale of toy guns that resemble actual weapons. The bill specifies that replica guns must be made in a color other than black, silver or aluminum, and must have a non-removable one inch wide orange stripe along the barrel.

Similar laws are already in place in New York and California. There is currently no such bill proposed in New Hampshire. Federal law already requires that realistic-looking toy weapons sold in the US have a bright orange tip.

Remove discretion from concealed carry?

Mar 23, 2016

On Thursday, March 24 the Senate will vote on a bill that would remove any discretion from local police chiefs issuing concealed carry licenses.

Under current law, police chiefs must issue concealed carry permits to any “suitable” applicants.  Senate Bill 336, as amended, would instead require police chiefs to issue a permit so long as the applicant is not prohibited from possessing a firearm by state or federal law.

The New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police oppose the bill because they argue there are gray areas that benefit from police discretion.
