HB 1631 (2022)

Amend criteria, fee for lifetime hunting or fishing license for person with disabilities

Summary:

Amends the criteria for a person with disabilities to obtain a lifetime hunting, fishing, or trapping license. At the time of this bill's submission, the law refers to a person "suffering from paraplegia or is suffering from the permanent loss of, or the permanent loss of the use of, both lower extremities." This bill changes that text to read, "suffering from a permanent and total disability, as certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or the United States Social Security Administration." This bill then changes the $10 fee to an "administrative fee equal to the license fee in the year the applicant applies for the license." Lastly, this bill states, "a physician who falsely certifies a disability for the purpose of this section shall be guilty of a violation and subject to a $500 fine."
