This Privacy Policy describes how Citizens Count collects information from those who access our site but do not have accounts ("Visitors") as well as those who may register in order to participate in certain areas of our site ("Members"), what we do with the information we collect, and the choices Visitors and Members have concerning the collection and use of such information. We request that you read this Privacy Policy carefully. By providing Personal Information, you signify that you consent and agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any term of this Policy, please do not provide any Personal Information. If you choose not to provide Personal Information, you may not be able to do certain things, like access particular areas of our website, post comments, blogs or send us e-mails.

Collection of personal information and how it is used

Introduction

As used in this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means personally identifiable information such as your name, street address, telephone numbers, credit card information, screen name and e-mail address. Citizens Count collects information in different ways from Visitors and Members who access our Web site. We use this information to help us understand more about the interests of our users, to identify members, to send out newsletters, RSS feeds and to send promotional materials. At times we may share this information with trusted third parties to help analyze the data we collect or to help us improve our website. These third parties are not authorized by Citizens Count to use your personal information in any other way. Also, we may disclose personal information collected if we have received your permission beforehand or if required to do so by law, or by search warrant, subpoena or court order; or to bring legal action against someone who may be violating our Privacy Policy or Terms of Use Policy; or to protect Citizens Count and our Members.

Registration

When you decide to become a Member, or if you decide to make a donation, you will be asked to register and provide certain personal information including your name, address, telephone number, and billing information (payments are collected through PayPal). The personal information collected from Members during the registration process is used to manage each Member's account.

Responses to email inquiries

When Visitors or Members send email inquiries to Citizens Count, the return email address is used to answer the email inquiry we receive. Citizens Count will also use your email address for general communications and monthly newsletters.

Voluntary surveys

We may periodically conduct both Visitor and/or Member surveys. We encourage our Visitors and Members to participate in these surveys because they provide us with important information that helps us to improve your user experience. Your personal information and responses will remain strictly confidential, even if the survey is conducted by a third party. Participation in our surveys is voluntary.
