HB 498 (2021)

Summary:

Creates a bail commissioners board in each county to appoint bail commissioners. This bill also requires the court to pay the bail commissioner's fee in cases where a defendant claims, but is not proven to be indigent (too poor to pay). The House amended the bill to instead require the court to determine the offender's indigence using established criteria for the purpose of the offender's ability to pay the bail commissioner's fee.
