Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"This is one more way our property tax dollars and public school funds are being stolen. Public schools are for the public good and no child can be denied access. The majority of the students receiving EFAs have never been educated in a public school. Disclaimer: I homeschooled my child for 4th grade and 5th grade."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"NO legislation should infringe upon our private and personal liberties as set forth in our NH State Constitution. Legislators take an oath to our uphold our constitution. It does not matter what I believe about abortion. What matters is that I will take an oath to protect: ' [Art.] 2-b. [Right of Privacy.] An individual's right to live free from governmental intrusion in private or personal information is natural, essential, and inherent.'"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

"NO legislation should infringe upon our private and personal liberties as set forth in our NH State Constitution. Legislators take an oath to our uphold our constitution. It does not matter what I believe about abortion. What matters is that I will take an oath to protect: ' [Art.] 2-b. [Right of Privacy.] An individual's right to live free from governmental intrusion in private or personal information is natural, essential, and inherent.'"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire ban discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3?

"Based on this, a teacher cannot say, 'line up boys and girls' as that is 'gender identity'. This is just another political talking point to infringe on personal freedom, and is and of itself an inherently consciously oppressive concept."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the state law that bans teaching certain concepts, such as the idea that people may be "inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously"?

"This is a political talking point and has no merit in our community. A 'Right to Know' on CRT was requested and our whole school district didn't have one mention of 'CRT'. This 'divisive concepts' push is in and of itself an inherently racist, sexist, and consciously oppressive concept."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"Against"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"I am against a broad-based sales tax; but like it or not, we have to have a tax base to keep our public sector efficient (roads plowed, etc...). It's time to take the burden off of property tax owners living in their primary residence, and off of small family business entrepreneurs running in-community businesses, by legalizing marijuana and creating a consumption tax on luxury items. (Example: A $90 bottle of wine at the grocery store is not the same as a family purchasing $90 of food at the grocery store)."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire add a tax credit for businesses that contribute to student loan repayment for employees?

"This has already been addressed: https://www.revenue.nh.gov/quick-links/education-tax-credit.htm"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"Many family businesses run a profit smaller than the pay of employees working for large corporations. If we don't want to ask those employees pulling in 6+ figures of income to pay, then why do we ask our small family businesses to pay? We cannot lump small businesses and large corporations under the same category."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire government do more to address climate change?

"We are the only state in New England not in the U.S. Climate Alliance. We are falling behind in our region and not setting our younger generation up for the jobs of the future. Our children are moving out, and we are losing our workforce. Carroll County District 7 has a median age of ~56.7."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"This is a political talking point. When voters register, they bring their supporting identification. If they do not have it, then yes, their identity should be confirmed."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire add a fee or mileage charge for electric vehicle owners to help pay for transportation and/or electric infrastructure?

"With only 1% of our electricity being generated from solar, it is imperative that we all work together and help pay for climate smart infrastructure."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?

"Local control is best, unless a city or town needs assistance with a housing crisis. If you have a tent city--you need housing, and zoning barriers should be assessed properly and lifted where needed. If a town or city cannot handle their humanitarian housing crisis, then state aid/direction is imperative. State zoning should not control short term rentals as that is a local issue."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire extend the renewable portfolio standard past 2025, requiring public utilities to obtain more than 25% of electricity from renewable energy sources?

"We should also be incentivizing private homeowners and businesses to transition to renewable energy sources."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire guarantee the right to access abortion before 24 weeks?

"NO legislation should infringe upon our private and personal liberties as set forth in our NH State Constitution. Legislators take an oath to our uphold our constitution. It does not matter what I believe about abortion. What matters is that I will take an oath to protect: ' [Art.] 2-b. [Right of Privacy.] An individual's right to live free from governmental intrusion in private or personal information is natural, essential, and inherent.'"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the option of mail-in ballots for all voters, not just absentees?

"This is a political talking point. Mail-in ballots have to be requested. You should not have to have a reason if you want to vote by mail-in ballot. Voting should be as easy as possible. Every citizen should be empowered to vote and should want to vote."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by allowing home-growing and private use without sales?

"We need to do this for the safety of our children. The black market now skips over Mass, Maine, and VT and heads right to our border. Our youth are being given laced THC and cannabis which is putting them at risk. We need to keep our citizens safe; and this is a potential tax revenue stream."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by licensing growers and private retail locations?

"We need to do this for the safety of our children. The black market now skips over Mass, Maine, and VT and heads right to our border. Our youth are being given laced THC and cannabis which is putting them at risk. We need to keep our citizens safe; and this is a potential tax revenue stream."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by establishing state-run cannabis stores?

"We need to do this for the safety of our children. The black market now skips over Mass, Maine, and VT and heads right to our border. Our youth are being given laced THC and cannabis which is putting them at risk. We need to keep our citizens safe; and this is a potential tax revenue stream."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"The reason we are stalling on this is that small summer businesses like ice cream shops would not be able to employee our local teens and keep their business open. Minimum wage should increase and most local businesses in our district are already paying $13.50. We need to be business wise and not make it universal. We should not be holding our mom and pop shops to the same fiscal policies as Walmart. This is not a one size fits all."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should the state permanently increase how much tax revenue it shares with towns and cities every year, beyond public school funding?

"I do not know the current amounts 'beyond public school funding', and cannot state if I am 'for' or 'against'; but if a town has food scarcity, then yes, funds should be used to support that town with their meal programs. If a town has a housing crisis, then yes, funds should be used to support that town through proper grants. If a dam breaks or other catastrophic events, then we as citizens of the state should help our neighbors."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the gradual phase-out of the Interests and Dividends tax?

"This policy only benefits the top 20% of income earners with the top 1% reaping the greatest benefits. This is another place that if we phase out here, then we will transfer the tax burden onto the backs of our median income home owners with increased property taxes. We are talking about a small tax placed on shareholders receiving a distribution."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the state’s current system of public school funding, with each district’s total funding primarily dependent on local property tax revenue?

"This practice needs to end. Every child, regardless of property rich or property poor towns, should have equal access to education. NH ranks last in the nation for state funding to our public schools, and with the passage of EFAs and diverting funds like the 5.8 million that was just given to private enterprise for only 100 children, we are depleting our public schools of necessary funds for programming."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire repeal the ban on abortion after 24 weeks gestation?

"NO legislation should infringe upon our private and personal liberties as set forth in our NH State Constitution. Legislators take an oath to our uphold our constitution. It does not matter what I believe about abortion. What matters is that I will take an oath to protect: ' [Art.] 2-b. [Right of Privacy.] An individual's right to live free from governmental intrusion in private or personal information is natural, essential, and inherent.'"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"I believe in responsible, reasonable, respectful, registered gun ownership. Radicalism that enters our public space should be regulated. We need to keep our police officers and citizens safe. We need to preserve our long standing cultural history of hunting. We should have tax payer supported gun safety training for all persons under 25 with appropriate licensing. We need to increase mental health funding in our schools, and continue on our path of increasing suicide preventive services. We need to have an honest discussion about gun manufacturers promoting their products to our children in 1st person shooter video games."
