Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"Public education is the foundation of a strong community and state. We should not shift public dollars to private education - this is a bad idea."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire ban discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3?

"Why does it make sense for the state to ban this discussions. Sexual orientation and gender identity are common across the community - and a reality of our social experience and community - why would they be banned for discussion?"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the state law that bans teaching certain concepts, such as the idea that people may be "inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously"?

"It is very bad public policy to insert the state into the classroom with the explicit intent to ban discussion of uncomfortable subjects such as history, books, philosophy, activism, or government actions. Your question is somewhat misleading -"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"An income tax seems to act as a progressive tax that reflects, and updates, based on income either moving up or down. This seems like a reasonable, and progressive, way to raise revenue in a progressive manner. However, I would want to learn more about how residents across my district view this approach."

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"A sales tax, on certain items - which would not include food or necessities, makes sense as a funding avenue for the state"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support giving voters who register without ID on Election Day a ballot that only counts if they return identifying documents to the state before a deadline?

"Why would we do this? If someone 'votes' illegally, then I believe that there are already remedies and penalties in place to cover that situation. This seems to be an attempt to 'limit' voter participation and introduce one more hurdle, and one more restriction, on voting. Feels like a 'wedge' issue that attempts to artificially create (i.e. solve) a problem that doesn't actually exist. I put this in the ever expanding category of 'more voter restrictions' in NH in order to limit the ability for students to take part in their civic experience and community."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire add a fee or mileage charge for electric vehicle owners to help pay for transportation and/or electric infrastructure?

"Well, EV is heading our way the transition to EV is taking place rather quickly. If we look at S curve transitions (technology transformations) then EV is approaching a rather rapid uptake and the infrastructure to support EV, across the state, needs to be evaluated and considered. This feels like something where the state needs to lead, encourage public and private entities to take part, and work to make sure that EV infrastructure (charging and possibly other services) are in place."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?

"It seems that local zoning directly impacts the supply of available housing as well as housing costs."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire extend the renewable portfolio standard past 2025, requiring public utilities to obtain more than 25% of electricity from renewable energy sources?

"The future seems very clear and it involves renewable energy. Why are we waiting on this and delaying what appears to be rather pragmatic public policy?"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

"Of course! This is 2022 and I'm not sure why mail-in ballots are such a contested issue. We need more democracy, more civic engagement, and more voting."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by allowing home-growing and private use without sales?

"It's clear that NH should legalize and provide for both recreational and medicinal use. I'm not sure if the state, following the model NH uses for liquor sales, should establish a monopoly on the sale of recreational marijuana."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by licensing growers and private retail locations?

"This would need to be viewed against a broader tax reform package, including changes to business tax and/or local property tax rates."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2022

Do you support the state’s current system of public school funding, with each district’s total funding primarily dependent on local property tax revenue?

"This seems inherently unfair since each district has a different property tax base - and therefore a different ability to raise revenue based on that property tax base."

"This is between a women and her doctor(s) and health providers. This is a health care decision."

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"Of course! We should also closely track both national, and state, gun violence, injuries, and deaths and use that data to inform our additional regulations. We ban assault weapons, limit clip size, introduce age restrictions, red flag laws, and other regulations that are appropriate to protect our freedom to live without gun violence and mass casualty events caused by guns (yes guns, and not just the person with the gun)."
