HB 401 (2023)
Require 60-day notice, other facts before eviction for renovations
This bill did not become law.
Requires 60-day notice if a landlord evicts a tenant for renovations or repairs. A landlord must also establish that work cannot be safely performed while the unit is occupied, the work on the unit is expected to take more than 30 days, and that another unit with the same number of bedrooms at the same rent is not available. This bill also requires a landlord to provide 60-day notice for evicting a tenant to remove a unit from the market. The landlord would be prohibited from returning the unit to the market for one year.
