SB 438 (2022)
Require American made steel products for public work projects
This bill did not become law.
Requires the use of American made steel products in all public works projects where the state administers the contract and the contract involves at least $1 million state dollars. There is a waiver process if there is a shortage or it is otherwise not in the public interest.
The House amended the bill to add the substance of HB 1560 and HB 1171. HB 1560 modifies the requirements for nonresident licensure by the Board of Barbering, Cosmetology, and Esthetics. HB 1171 exempts certain beauty services from occupational and shop license requirements, such as eyelash extension application, makeup application, eyebrow threading, blowouts and hairstyling, etc. The Senate rejected these additions, ultimately killing the bill.
