"I am opposed to [casino gambling] as proposed. It seems that those that want it expect it to be placed at Rockingham Park at a predetermined price of $85 million. If we are to get involved we should study the effects of casino gambling in other locations and determine what it has done to the surrounding areas. For example: crime rate within 50 and 100 miles, property values, employment rates, wages, drug usage, etc. I also believe that if we do find it viable based on the study, the license should go to the highest bidder in one of four geographic areas in the state."
