Since being imposed by a Republican Governor in 2021, and increased two times since then by a different Republican Governor, every dollar taken from tax money collected for use by a district public school has been outright theft. Should NH add an income tax on earned income?
"I am mainly disturbed by Special Education being funded using General Education local property taxes. Any student is due an equal amount of property tax money destined for the public school. Any funds required above the equal amount for each student in the district, should be sourced state wide. Local property taxes cannot be levied to cover the volatile and variable nature of Special Needs at the local level. The SPED funds above the GENED funds should be de-coupled. On the same note, no property tax funds should only go to Public Schools. As close to 400 years of history, and Article 6 of the NH Constitution, tell us; NH tax payers cannot be compelled, through taxation, to support any school of any kind that is not Public. Special Education funding is mandated, and necessary. It will be up to the Executive to point the Legislature in the best direction to find those funds; once those funds have been removed from the property tax, where they never should have been."Other| Read My Position

"If it were pared down to the way NH funded Public Schools in 1649, reiterated in 1784, and again in 1919; where each student in a district, boy and girls counted equally, was funded equally - number of students x investment per student = the local district cost funded by local property tax - may work. Loading (since 1975) Special Ed, excess above student investment, which is volatile and variable, onto local district property tax is wrong. Special Ed is good, but should be funded by a statewide source. The EFA's (started in 2921) are outright theft according to Article 6 of the NH Constitution which states that people should not be compelled to support a non-public school with public money. Fix those two things, and then look at the fairness of property tax. They still may be unfair, but as it is right now - we have had 50 years of misuse of the public school property tax."For| Read My Position

"I have guns. I also had a concealed carry permit, until that requirement was removed. I don't think it should have been removed. I also do not think that anyone who wants an assault rifle should have one. I think regulations regarding weapons designed to kill many people quickly, should be in place. I do not think that would hamper the 2nd amendment in any way."
