Colin Van Ostern is a former executive councilor and candidate for governor. He was the first Democrat to jump into the District 2 race after Rep. Kuster said she would not seek reelection. In his campaign announcement Van Ostern emphasized the threats to democracy, called for a national law protecting reproductive rights, and promised to "always look for common ground."
