Should New Hampshire ban abortion after 20 weeks gestation, with exceptions for cases of rape/incest and health complications?

"The government should not intrude upon such a personal decision of its citizens."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire ban abortion after 24 weeks gestation, with exceptions for cases of rape/incest and health complications?

"No. The state and community have zero business in this decision. This is a sad, difficult and painful decision for traumatized expecting parents and their doctor(s). The state has no business inserting itself into, or impairing, the health decisions of private citizens."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH pursue expanded commuter rail?

"I support expanded commuter rail."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH limit terms for elected officials?

"I support term limits for New Hampshire elected officials."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH increase funding for heroin treatment programs?

"I support increased funding for heroin treatment programs."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"We need to consider how to reduce reliance upon property taxes for school education. The current tax structure is not sustainable or fair. Not sure it needs to be a 'broad based' tax."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"I have a small business. I am okay with the existing tax rate."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?

Should New Hampshire increase public access to reports of police misconduct?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Do you support the option of mail-in ballots for all voters, not just absentees?

"Yes. Colorado has mail-in voting and cites little to no problems with it. We must make voting secure and easier for all citizens, not just the ones with cars."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH legalize the recreational use of marijuana?

"I support decriminalization of marijuana to include recreational use. Grow your own, smoke it. Sell in reasonable quantities to other adults. I do not support enabling marijuana sales to become a large scale corporate industry for the purpose of creating tax revenues. We should learn the lesson with tobacco, alcohol and the vaping industries: they do not have sufficient consumer protection and advertise to underage people."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Was New Hampshire right to continue expanded Medicaid eligibility, using the traditional Medicaid system of managed care instead of private insurance?

"I support expanded Medicaid eligibility, using the traditional Medicaid system of managed care instead of private insurance."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?

"Absolutely. The taxpayers are subsidizing private companies when they pay poverty and below poverty level wages. No one should work 40 hours and still need food stamps and rent assistance. People with more money in their pockets contribute directly to our economy rather than save it or buy back stocks. Other states that have done this have NOT seen massive job losses, etc."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH do more to enforce federal immigration laws?

"I oppose increased state enforcement of federal immigration laws."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase the size of solar panel installations that may participate in net energy metering?

"Absolutely. This is the lowest hanging fruit of addressing climate crisis and having higher prices than our surrounding states. Sununu is the only thing obstructing taxpayers, towns, landlords and businesses that know how to lower their energy costs and reduce reliance upon property taxes."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase subsidies and tax credits for business investment?

"I do not usually support tax credits for private entities. Doing so reduces the funding available for necessary services for a greater number of people than the number of jobs created. Subsidies or credits should be reserved for unusual situations and yield substantial benefit to NH. More businesses would be willing relocate to NH if we reduced electric rates to less than surrounding states, improved public education, expanded training and college education, and wages met our housing costs."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire increase the base amount of per-pupil funding it provides to local school districts?

"Yes. The state is constitutionally required to provide funds for public education and the state has been reducing the amount, downshifting the costs to local property taxes. This is an unsustainable funding situation."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Is police brutality an issue in NH?

"State government should take action to reduce police brutality in New Hampshire, for example by requiring body cameras or limiting the ability of police to acquire military equipment."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Do you support Gov. Sununu's proposal to allow employers and employees to opt-in to a private, paid family and medical leave insurance plan, based on a pool of state employees, excluding coverage for personal illness?

"This is not for sick leave in the first place. PFML is for bonding with your infant, helping an infirm family member. This approach makes the insurance program underfunded, thus unsustainable and puts smaller companies at a disadvantage to larger ones that can afford to offer it."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire continue to participate in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which requires utilities to purchase allowances for every ton of carbon they emit?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should New Hampshire maintain the renewable portfolio standard, which requires public utilities in New Hampshire to obtain a certain percentage of electricity from renewable energy sources (25% by 2025)?

"I support the renewable portfolio standard in New Hampshire."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire create a road usage fee?

"We currently fund our roads with the gas tax, but we are losing revenues as vehicles become more efficient, vehicles go electric, and even with COVID there is less commuting. Progress demands we change how we fund our road and bridge maintenance asap and phase out the gas tax."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should New Hampshire government do more to increase the supply of affordable housing?

"New Hampshire government should do more to increase the supply of affordable housing."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH continue to administer statewide standards-based student assessments?

"I oppose New Hampshire continuing to administer statewide standards-based student assessments."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire create a statewide family and medical leave program, paid for with a percentage of employee wages, with no opt-out?

"This is not new and keeps the workforce intact. It makes working in NH more attractive to younger people and counteracts companies firing employees for needing days off for chemo, to care for a family member, etc. CT, MA NJ, NH, RI and 4 western states have it already. New Hampshire, more than 10% of firms employing less than 10 employees provide it; 30% of businesses with more than 250 employees provide it. This is insurance not a tax, the money paid into the program is pooled & paid out to the individuals that paid in. The money is not redistributed to the NH General Fund."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire provide student loan debt repayment programs for workers in industries with labor shortages?

"For"

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire add tax incentives for affordable housing development?

"I am generally skeptical of tax incentives for business or development, however in our current situation there is no other driver of the market. Profits on giant, waterfront, and/or luxury houses are much greater incentive. NH has a crucial need for affordable housing & workforce housing. I would consider any equitable way to encourage more of it."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020

Should New Hampshire allocate tax revenues for private and home schooling costs?

"I am categorically against using taxpayers' funds toward non-public, unaccountable, unaccountable private or 'charter' schools and to home schoolers."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2018

Should NH impose strict residency requirements on registering to vote?

"New Hampshire should not impose strict residency requirements on registering to vote."
