"Concord likes to downshift costs to the towns and increase our property taxes. The state killed the interest and dividends tax. It stopped helping with retirement accounts. It voted to reduce the Meals & Rooms tax. All taxes that allowed some politicians to say they “cut taxes”. But all these decisions forced the local property taxes to increase to make up for it.
"Increasing the funding from the state doesn’t require a dramatic tax change from the legislative body. It means reinstating taxes that were working. And honoring the commitments to fund students and the towns in a fair manner."

"The NH Supreme Court has ruled multiple times that the state is not providing adequate funding to towns for their schools, but the legislative branch, lead by Republicans, has refused to address the ~$3,250 per student shortfall. Forcing property taxes to make up for it. For perspective, NH state gives an average of ~$4,265 per student. Which ranks us last of all the 50 states. I believe supporting our public schools means funding them. And that it needs to be funded by more than just through property taxes."
