Position on Issues

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2014

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"I am opposed to any new or increased taxes-we should just control our spending."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2014

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"I am opposed to any new or increased taxes-we should just control our spending."

WMUR, 2022

"I've spent my career in business, working my way up from the stockroom to senior management in our family-run, local manufacturing company. Inflation is costing our employees more to feed their families, and our vendors are paying higher costs to deliver the products we make. Inflation touches every aspect of the economy and every corner of this district. You will never fix a problem when you choose to ignore it, which is exactly what Ann Kuster has done. Inflation is at a 40-year high because of Kuster and DC's reckless spending. We need to acknowledge that and stop the reckless spending that's putting Americans in the terrible position of having to choose between heating their homes or saving for their children's college education."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2014

Should NH authorize one or more casinos?

"I am opposed to increased gaming for New Hampshire."

WMUR, 2022

"Abortion is now firmly a states rights issue, and I believe New Hampshire does a good job with it."

WMUR, 2022

"I'm proud of the investments my family business, my city, and many others in New Hampshire have made in renewable energy, and in Congress I will support an 'all of the above' approach. The fact that Washington dictates a headline grabbing policy agenda without first considering the ramifications of that agenda on the people back home is a real problem. They tried to finance their zealous pursuit of a one-size-fits-all climate change agenda by targeting domestic production and working families are paying the price. Now we have an impending home heating crisis this winter and even though Ann Kuster sits on the House Energy Committee, she's doing nothing to address it. Granite Staters can't afford to keep paying the price for Ann Kuster's blind loyalty to this twisted, progressive agenda in Washington. She is too far removed from the people she should be serving to understand the adverse impact she is having on them."

WMUR, 2022

"New Hampshire has a long tradition of responsible gun ownership, and law abiding people should not lose those rights because criminals are breaking the law with illegally acquired weapons. I will protect Granite Staters 2nd Amendment rights and it's my hope that we start enforcing the laws that are currently on the books to keep guns out of the hands of the people that shouldn't have them."

WMUR, 2022

"We are seeing the ripple effects of what can happen when a country like Russia flexes its power and destabilizes an entire region. The intervention pact that NATO members adhere to has served as an effective deterrent to large scale military engagements, like what we are seeing in Ukraine today. The decision to commit our military to any war should never be taken lightly, and we must first concentrate our efforts on diplomatic solutions until those options are fully exhausted. As much as any leader and country wants to avoid the horrific military sacrifices that come with war, we must also be cognizant of the fact that we live in an ever more dangerous world. The actions of unchecked dictators can have a ripple effect that causes unimaginable loss of life and physical destruction across the globe."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2014

Should NH continue to use property taxes instead of a new broad-based tax, such as an income tax?

"I am opposed to any new or increased taxes-we should just control our spending."

WMUR, 2022

"Voting and elections are sacred. We need to make sure we always have fair and straightforward elections. I'll always oppose any legislation that infringes on anyone's right to vote, but I don't believe any federal legislation is needed at the moment."

WMUR, 2022

"We have to empower students and their parents at the outset to understand the costs they are taking on, and the ability and time it will take to retire that debt. Our family business has been operating for over 100-years, and we are successful because we help to educate our customers about the products we produce. Informed buyers make better customers for us. Helping to create greater understanding and awareness up front will make students and parents better 'shoppers' who can determine if that four year degree, and the debt that comes with it, is worth the investment."
