"State and local laws have little value when weapons buyers can cross jurisdictions where laws are lax. Also, there is no magic law that will solve gun violence overnight. That said, steps need to be taken, mainly at the federal level, to at least begin to do effective (digital) background and mental health checks, require training, and start to limit or ban weaponry that is designed to inflict mass casualties, including large capacity magazines and automatic fire."
