Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?
"I would, if they put an income cap on these accounts. Since the legislature has voted to remove that cap, I am against it. This appears to be another break that the wealthy get to use. If a couple can afford to have one spouse stay at home and home-school their 6 kids, getting paid $30,000 to do so is a nice chunk of change. Working class families who rely on 2 incomes to make ends meet cannot afford the option to stay home or transport their child to another school district. "A person who has transitioned from a male to female would have female genitalia, and should be allowed into a woman's bathroom, as they would not be safe in a man's bathroom. "I personally do not like abortion, but I believe that a woman has the freedom of choice for her body. I do not think abortions should be performed after 20 weeks, except in the case of harm or death to the mother, or if the baby is not viable. "I actually am for it, IF it is used to lower our property tax. We are taxed on the value of our home, not on our ability to pay. I would work to find the revenue we need to lower our property taxes. An income tax would be a more fair system, as it would place everyone on an equal playing field. "I think that our towns know best what works for them and what does not. State mandates may disregard the limits of our town's infrastructure, such as water, sewer, and school capacities. "This tax predominately affected the wealthy, as they are more likely to have the resources to save through stocks, CD's, and 401K accounts, to name a few. When we removed this tax, we eliminated a source of income to the state, making it necessary for towns to find other ways to fund needed services. That resulted in higher property tax. Breaking the backs of the poor so the rich can live free is not the right way to fund our towns and state!"Against| Read My Position

"Our state has a constitutional obligation to provide an adequate public education. That amount has been set at $4,265 per student. Lawsuits have determined the rate the state has been ordered to pay be $7,356. The state refuses to pay that amount. Gov. Ayotte signed legislation to limit the state's funding obligation to basic instruction, excluding costs like buses, nurses, and administration. Per pupil spending averages around $20,000. Because the state limits it's contribution, local property taxes make up more than 70% of public education funding."For| Read My Position

"When a student leaves a district, state funding goes with them. It is the originating school who has to pay to send a student elsewhere. This can deplete the resources of already struggling schools. As it is the parents responsibility to transport their child to a different school, it also favors the wealthy who can afford to do so. A better solution would be to make all schools equitable in that they have a 'school pool' and that money is equally shared between each school in the state. It can be done."Other| Read My Position

"How riduculas. Things break down. Health insurance goes up. More students need IEP's. Life happens! Budgets are not set until the new year. It is impossible to determine how much the cap should be--and will it be different for each school? "The Second Amendment is a core basic right that we have and shall maintain. However I believe that we can also have sensible controls and restrictions in place to protect ALL people. This does not mean take away your guns. It means working in a bipartisan relationship to find common ground where we can establish parameters that honor gun ownership and use, while keeping children and others safe."
