Should NH pursue expanded commuter rail?

"I support expanded commuter rail."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH limit terms for elected officials?

"I oppose term limits because experienced individuals are valuable in moving things forward. They have seen what works and what doesn't work."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH increase funding for heroin treatment programs?

"I support increased funding for heroin treatment programs."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?

"I oppose NH adding a broad-based sales tax."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH authorize one or more casinos?

"I am undecided on this issue. It is true that people leave our state to gamble in other states which means this takes money out of NH. Also, the casinos would provide jobs for NH workers. On the other side of the issue, with as many places to gamble as there are, casinos are not the money makers that they used to be. Also, if casinos are nearby, people with gambling addiction will find it easier to lose their money."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH continue to base statewide assessments on Common Core standards?

"Common core as it relates to a basic understanding of reading and math is important for everyone who wants to be productive in our state."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH broaden campaign finance disclosure laws?

"I support broader campaign finance disclosure laws."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH increase law enforcement policies and penalties for heroin-related offenses?

"I support strong penalties for those involved in the sale of heroin but the users should be offered treatment so that they don't continue their abuse. The users need to turn their lives around so that they can become good members of the society."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH legalize the recreational use of marijuana?

"I am undecided on this issue but the penalty for possession of small amounts for personal use should be reduced."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Was NH right to expand Medicaid eligibility, using private insurance wherever possible?

"I support NH's expanded Medicaid because it provides many individuals with preventive care which will prevent larger expenses in the future. It also gets these people out of the emergency rooms where the cost of care is the highest."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH do more to enforce federal immigration laws?

"I believe that the federal government needs to be the direct enforcer of the immigration laws, perhaps with the help of NH officials."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH allow the Northern Pass to proceed with some (not all) of the lines buried?

"The North Country of New Hampshire relies on tourism for jobs. We should make every effort to protect these jobs. We might even want to work on restoring old field that have been overgrown so that the historic vistas are maintained."

What is your opinion on the state providing some funding for Planned Parenthood?

"I support the state providing funding for Planned Parenthood. They give assistance for many needy individuals to prevent unwanted pregnancies and STDs. Also, abortion is legal in the United States so the fact that Planned Parenthood provides abortions should not disqualify it from funding."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH continue to administer statewide standards-based student assessments?

"I am undecided on this issue. I'm worried about taking too much time from learning."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"I support the right for people to own guns. However, we should restrict the sale of guns when it comes to felons and others who are a danger to society. Universal background checks will not prevent lawful gun owners from buying a gun."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should parents be allowed to opt their children out of the NH immunization/vaccination registry?

"No, parents should not be allowed to opt out. Some children cannot be immunized because of certain medical issues and these children need the rest of the population immunized so that the diseases don't infect them. Long ago, it was shown that vaccinations do not cause autism so this is not an excuse."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH restrict further wind power development?

"Wind power prevents the release of greenhouse gases and global warming is a real problem for the nation and world. Appropriate siting of wing power can be a very good thing for the environment although some people find the turbines unsightly."
