In Their Own Words:

The candidate provided the following statement:

As a moderate Democrat, I passionately believe we must take care of those who cannot take care of themselves, equal rights and justice for all. However, I believe the best course in doing so is to adhere to the constitution. Taking short cuts diminishes our democracy and chips away at the greatest form of government ever conceived.

Please understand just because I feel security is the pressing issue at the moment, it does not diminish the other problems we face.

Drug abuse decimates people’s lives and drains our economy. Violence in certain areas gives it the appearance of being socially acceptable. Our mentally ill do not get adequate treatment which accounts for some of the mass killings. Our veterans do not get adequate medical care and VA management must be held accountable.

I am running for president to give voice to those who believe the federal government should uphold the constitution, protect Americans, balance the budget, confront our adversaries, and support our allies. We should not discharge any honorably serving military personnel at a time when the world is in such turmoil. History has shown reducing the officer staff and experienced enlisted persons decimate military effectiveness. We need to build all our military equipment within the United States and not purchase it from foreign countries.

Should NH increase funding for heroin treatment programs?

There is an AIDS epidemic in Indiana due to heroin addicts sharing needles. We need to take action on all fronts.

a. Expand education and prevention programs.

b. Funding drug treatment programs should be proportional to the number of cases.

c. Fund a needle exchange program to prevent the spread of AIDS.

d. Increase penalties for selling illegal drugs and illegally distributing prescription medications.

Should there be a path to citizenship for some illegal/undocumented immigrants?

No. Some things do not deserve a second chance. Similar to Pete Rose not ever being admitted to the Baseball Hall of Fame for his infraction, people who have violated US laws should not be rewarded; It mocks the law they broke.

Should the government compel corporations to pay more in federal taxes, for example by closing “loopholes?”

No. Corporations should be allowed tax credit for hiring employees. In order to keep up profits, the corporations would just raise prices. The question is, how do you want your taxes collected, through the government or corporations?

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH continue to base statewide assessments on Common Core standards?

This is not specified in the constitution, and therefore should be decided by the state. NH should keep whatever standards the NH people decide.

Should the federal government expand background checks for firearms sales?

"There should be extreme penalties for any crime involving firearms, a mandatory sentence of 2 years, or 5 years if the fire arm was obtained illegally.

"The government should do more about mental illness and violent ideology. Keep in mind the killings in Boston were done with pressure cookers and radio controlled toys. Should there be stricter limits on pressure cookers and radio controlled toys?"

Should the government do more to combat climate change, for example by restricting emissions, taxing carbon, or providing incentives to develop clean energy?

Kentucky has just sold another eight billion dollars in coal to be shipped halfway around the world to be burned with inefficient flues which cause hazardous emissions. More carbon is expended in just the transportation! From the world climate perspective, it would make more sense to burn the coal cleanly in the United States.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should the federal government institute a flat income tax for all income brackets while eliminating many deductions?

My personal opinion personal income tax should be totally eliminated. Prior to 1913 there was no income tax and revenue was raised from things like import duties. Think of it as a carbon tax for unnecessary transportation.

Personal income tax revenue could be replaced by sales taxes on items similar to Kentucky. For example, food, medical care and newspapers should not be taxed.

Should the government enforce federal marijuana laws in states that have legalized marijuana?

Constitutionally, the president does not decide which laws to enforce. If a state decided to ban abortion or ban same gender marriages, should the federal government allow it? However, if the perspective is these are not powers granted to the specifically by the federal government, then the states can do whatever they please on these matters.

How should the U.S. combat the Islamic State?

Bombs and bullets are not enough. A strategy is needed to defeat the ideology. Before ISIS there was al-Qaeda. Firing cruise missiles into the sand will just continue the whack-a-mole activity.

Military options should not be revealed because this gives an adversary advantage.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should the federal government increase private sector involvement in veterans' health care?

The VA's performance is disgraceful. VA management must be held responsible. When the VA is unable to provide care, we should reimburse veterans to use private sector treatment.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH limit access to abortion?

Constitutionally, the president not decide which laws to enforce. The government's intervention into any medical decision, including having health insurance, is personally objectionable; Though, my personal preference would not likely to abort, except in extenuating circumstances.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should NH keep the death penalty?

Some crimes are so heinous, only the death penalty would be appropriate.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should the NSA continue its bulk data collection programs for U.S. citizens?

No. The constitution requires search warrants based on probable cause. However, data collection on non-diplomatic, non-citizens could be done for security purposes.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should the federal government reform Social Security by raising the retirement age from today's age of 67?

"Other than a 'non-working' spouse, the federal government should stop giving Social Security benefits to those who did not contribute to it. When I was young the government took out money from every check for social security with the understanding I could retire at 65 years old. Now the government says my full retirement is 66. If this was a private pension plan, someone would be going to jail."

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should the federal government repeal the Affordable Care Act/”Obamacare” entirely and start again?

The Affordable Care Act(ACA) should be repealed entirely. I took economics in college. You do not increase availability of anything by regulating it. Economically, if you want to reduce costs, set the environment to encourage more medical professionals into the field.

The requirement to computerize medical records has vastly increased Americans vulnerability to identity theft.

Instead of making medical service more difficult, the government should be facilitating providing services easier.

As for health insurance, a better approach would be to allow health insurance competition across state lines.

Health savings accounts would be useful cushsion medical expenses.

It would be helpful if healthcare providers would publish their rates. Even auto mechanics have a pricing structure.

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2016

Should the federal government allow student loan payments to be reduced based on income?

"No. Tuition should be reduced. The escalating tuition prices cannot be explained by an increase in professor's salaries. However, coaches salaries, buildings and other items not pertained to education have skyrocketed. Student loans should be similar to other loans, with an explanation required on how the student plans to pay it back.

"Skilled professions which do not require college should be encouraged."

How should the U.S. approach Iran?

"Iran continues to act as an antagonist, launching missiles toward our ships, seizing our vessels and leading the chant, Death to America etc... When Iran behaves in a civilized manner they can be treated in a civilized manner."
