The locations of two of the state’s four medical marijuana treatment centers were proposed earlier this month in Plymouth and at a business park in Lebanon.

The proposals must now meet with approval from local zoning boards.

The state passed legislation legalizing medical marijuana in 2013, but it was not until this June that three companies were given the go-ahead to operate a total of four centers in the Granite State. DHHS officials divided the state into four regions, each of which will be home to a single center.

The companies must submit applications to open their respective centers to DHHS on August 27th, and must have local approval before that date. The department has estimated that it will take roughly 6-7 more months for the centers to become operational. Cards will be issued to qualifying patients beginning roughly six weeks before the opening of the center in their region.

A Live Free or Die Alliance open discussion of the issue showed a strong 91% majority of citizens would approve of a dispensary opening in their community.
