On Tuesday, April 10 former state senator Molly Kelly announced she is running as a Democrat for New Hampshire governor.

She joins former Portsmouth mayor Steve Marchand, who announced his campaign shortly after losing the Democratic nomination in 2016.

Whoever wins the Democratic primary will face an uphill battle against Republican Chris Sununu, who has strong approval ratings among Independent voters, in particular.

Jiletta Jarvis is also in the race for governor as a Libertarian.

John Best is also running an independent campaign for governor.
