Altogether the candidates for New Hampshire Senate have raised roughly $2.75 million so far in this election.

Sen. Chuck Morse, the current Senate president, has raised over $300,000, the most of any state Senate candidate. He has spent a little over a third of those funds so far.

Unsurprisingly, some of the other candidates with the biggest fundraising numbers are running in hotly contested districts.

Seacoast Senate District 24 features a tight race between Republican Dan Innis, who has raised $89,219, and Democrat Tom Sherman, who has raised $107,926. Republican Nancy Stiles represented that district for many years, but the district has leaned Democratic in other elections.

District 8 in western New Hampshire is another expensive race without an incumbent. So far Democrat John Garvey has raised $132,531, while Republican Ruth Ward has raised $101,082.

Most senators running for reelection have a large fundraising lead over their challengers. For example, Democrat incumbent Sen. Lou D'Allesandro has raised $275,628, compared to the $5,935 raised by his Republican opponent Carla Gericke.

One exception is the race in District 9 in southwestern New Hampshire. Incumbent Republican Sen. Andy Sanborn has raised $126,561. His Democratic challenger Lee Nyquist has raised $124,504.

The next campaign finance report is due November 2.
