According to a February 2016 poll from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, drug abuse is the most important problem facing New Hampshire right now.

40% of the 687 adults surveyed chose drug abuse as the most important problem, followed by jobs and the economy (14%), education (8%), health care (5%), taxes (4%) and the state budget (1%).

52% also agreed that the government should spend more to reduce heroin abuse.  18% said the state is already spending enough, and 30% said they did not know enough to say.

Last summer the Concord Monitor reported that New Hampshire spent the least per capita on substance abuse treatment in New England.  However, after that report Gov. Hassan signed a budget that significantly increased funding for substance abuse prevention and treatment.  The House and Senate are also considering many bills related to substance abuse treatment in 2016, such as a bill to establish a statewide drug court program.

Do you agree that heroin abuse is the top issue in New Hampshire right now?  Do you think the state should spend more, or is the state spending enough already?  Share your opinion in the comments.

The Heroin crisis is no doubt a huge problem which state wide and Nationally needs attention. Funding disclosure and sympathy are a few things we should be demanding from our respective local, state, and federal govt's.
