Constitutional amendment against slavery

Summary:

Constitutional amendment creating "the right to be free from slavery and involuntary servitude."

The Senate amended the bill to instead say, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within New Hampshire, or any place subject to its jurisdiction."

The House and Senate did not agree on a final version.
