HB 1163 (2022)
Change how to handle over-voted ballots
This bill became law.
Last updated 2024-02-27 4:23 pm
Summary:
Requires that ballots which contain more than the allowable number of votes for an office be returned to the voter for possible correction before the ballot is counted. This bill also requires the number of over voted ballots, as well as the number of overvotes and undervotes, be included in the reported election results.
The House amended the bill to instead require hand counting of over-voted ballots, rather than returning the ballot to the voter for correction.
