HB 1379 (2022)
Decrease and limit current vaccine requirements for children
This bill did not become law.
Limits the current statewide immunization requirements for children to those diseases already identified in state law: diphtheria, mumps, pertussis, poliomyelitis, rubella, rubeola, and tetanus. This bill then repeals the Department of Health and Human Service's rulemaking authority to add required immunizations to this list. For example, current rules also require a chickenpox vaccine.
The House amended the bill to also require the hepatitis B and Hib vaccine until June 30, 2026.
The amended bill also allows the Department of Health and Human Services to add a new immunization requirement for up to 20 months with approval of a legislative oversight committee.
