Establish procedure, fund for claims of abuse at youth development center
This bill became law.
Establishes a procedure for the administration and resolution of claims of abuse which may have occurred at the youth development center (YDC). This bill creates the YDC settlement fund to pay settlements with victims of sexual abuse. Lastly, this bill creates an exemption from the right-to-know law for all records related to the administration and settlement of abuse claims at the YDC. There is a maximum payout of $1.5 million for any individual claim.
The House amended the bill to allow claims for victims of physical and/or sexual abuse. Claims involving only physical abuse are capped at $150,000 per individual.
