HB 221 (2023)

Summary:

Requires that agricultural land development rights purchased by the Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food shall be held in the name of the state of New Hampshire or the deed shall stipulate that the state has the right to enforce the terms of the deed. This bill was requested by the Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food. The House amended the bill to also add one voting member from the New Hampshire Land Trust Coalition to the agricultural lands preservation committee.

The Senate amended the bill to add regulations on game cameras, similar to SB 14 (2023). Under the amendment, a hunter cannot take an animal on the same calendar day they see an animal on a camera. Hunters would also have to label the camera with contact information and get permission from the property owner to place a game camera. The bill includes a $125 fine.
