HB 251 (2023)
Require estimated total cost of Renewable Portfolio Standards on electric bills
This bill did not become law.
Requires the Public Utilities Commission to show its estimated total cost of complying with the electric Renewable Portfolio Standards on customers' electric bills. The current law requires the commission to instead show the estimated cost on a per kilowatt hour basis.
The House amended the bill to specifically require utilities to show the estimated annual cost for the average residential ratepayer on electric bills.
This concept was added to a different bill, HB 281 (2023).
