Revise various laws around electric utilities to encourage distributed energy resources
This bill did not become law.
Revises the definition of grid modernization to reference cost-effective measures to create a competitive marketplace of electricity suppliers. This bill also defines "load reducer" for purposes of electric utility restructuring. Lastly, this bill establishes certain retail market reforms intended to enable innovation. In general, this bill directs electric utilities to implement new technology that will accommodate customers with "distributed energy resources," basically small-scale energy projects such as solar panels and battery storage.
