SB 109 (2023)
Allow more record sharing between law enforcement and school employees for school safety
This bill became law.
Revises the law that restricts what information school administrators may exchange with law enforcement. Generally speaking the law as written restricts information to criminal/delinquent conduct and suspicions of child abuse. As introduced, this bill would have allowed "ongoing communication" between law enforcement a school employees around school safety. The Senate amended the bill to more narrowly allow law enforcement to share records related to a "serious threat to school safety."
