SB 127 (2025)
Authorize hospitals to seek guardianship in some cases, fund new contract guardian slots
This bill did not become law.
Amends the obligations of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) with respect to contracting for public guardianship, and sends money to the Department to fund new contract guardian slots.
The Senate rewrote the bill. The new bill authorizes hospitals seeking to assist older adults or adults with a disability with discharge from a hospital setting to a less restrictive setting to seek to have a guardian or conservator appointed by the probate court. The rewritten bill still sends money to the Department to fund new contract guardian slots.
