Summary:

Requires local school districts to provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to children from households with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.  This bill provides some state reimbursement for these meals. Lastly, the bill requires school districts to offer an online application for free and reduced-price school meals, with some funding provided by the state.

The Senate amended the bill so that schools can choose whether or not to offer free meals for students up to 200% of the federal poverty level, with some reimbursement from the state.

The Senate added the substance of this bill to HB 143.
