Summary:
Eliminates fees for credit freezes, and allows persons notified of a security breach to exercise the rights of victims of identity theft under the credit freeze laws, even without presenting a police report. The House and Senate amended the bill to require credit reporting agencies to offer credit report freezing and unfreezing to consumers without cost. The amended bill also allows the consumer to submit a credit freeze request by mail, online, or telephone.
