Summary:
Enables a municipality to collect an occupancy fee from room rentals for the purpose of establishing a capital reserve fund, tourism support fund, revolving fund, or other special revenue fund, as authorized by the municipality. Such funds shall be used to augment funding for the cost of municipal services associated with the increase in tourism and transient traffic. The occupancy fee could be as much as $2 per day on rooms that cost over $40 per day. The fee could not be charged more than 184 consecutive days.
