SB 410 (2022)
Require public comment at school board meetings
This bill became law.
Requires every public school board meeting to include a public comment period of at least 30 minutes at the start of every meeting. This bill also requires the state board of education to adopt a model code of ethics for members of local school boards; school boards would be required to adopt a code of ethics that at least includes the model code. Lastly, this bill sets out procedures for amendment and submission of school district charters.
The Senate amended the bill to instead require public comment periods at both local school board meetings and meetings of the state board of education.
